A wealth of knowledge about the cooperative movement

"The Amazing Power of Cooperatives. Texts selected from the international call for paper proposals" will be published by the International Summit of Cooperatives in October 2012.

Researchers from around the world have taken an interest in cooperatives and mutuals. What do they think of us? What observations have they made about our business model? What challenges do they think lie ahead for cooperatives and mutuals? The objectivity that these academic and professional researchers bring to the subject is extremely valuable. Their research articles, which were collected and compiled into a single publication, were submitted in response to an international call for papers that generated a great deal of interest. You will receive a copy of this publication on site. Choosing among the articles was extremely difficult: out of the 111 proposals submitted, 44 were selected.

The International Summit of Cooperatives is proud to offer you this publication entitled "The Amazing Power of Cooperatives. Texts selected from the international call for paper proposals". It is divided into 4 sections:

  • The role of cooperatives and mutuals in the global economy
  • The performance of the cooperative and mutualist business model
  • The evolution of the cooperative and mutualist business model
  • The global socio-political influence of cooperatives and mutuals

This publication is for you, the CEOs and managers of small, medium and large cooperatives and mutuals, organizations that partner with the cooperative movement, representatives of governments and organizations interested in tapping into the amazing power of cooperatives. The authors want to share the results of their efforts with you.

The Summit organizers invite you to read, discuss and debate the findings contained in this publication.

A Researchers Seminar will take place on October 10, where some 15 researchers will present the key points of their research. You will have an opportunity to talk to them, discuss your realities in relation to their findings and observations, and share your concerns. Your presence at the seminar will be a real source of inspiration for them.

A detailed schedule of the presentations will be available at the beginning of October.

This event will take place on Wednesday October 10, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 5:10 pm, Room 208 in the Quebec city Convention Centre
