Imagine 2012 Congress
Imagine 2012 is designed to bring together the leadership of the world’s major co-operatives and leading economic thinkers from around the world. Imagine 2012 will provide a forum in which co-operative leaders and world-class economists can explore a new approach to economic thought and analysis that offers people around the world renewed hope for an economy that meets people’s needs.

Several complementary events will be added to the program, including:
International summit of funeral cooperatives

A global first! All cooperators, mutualists and persons voluntarily offering funeral services for families affected by the loss of a loved one will be gathering to discuss the major issues associated with death and bereavement.

Discussion workshop on forestry and cooperative issues

Forestry cooperatives from around the globe are invited to take part in a workshop to discuss forestry and cooperative issues. An outing to a nearby forested area is also planned so that participants can see the work that has been done by our forestry cooperative network. This event is reserved for representatives of forestry cooperatives.

Global Cooperative Finance Summit

Finance (banking, insurance, microfinance), like agriculture, is an area of economic activity where cooperatives are very active, serving the needs of their communities and contributing to the real economy. In addition to providing an opportunity for financial cooperative leaders to meet, the Summit will highlight the need for national and international regulatory authorities to give greater consideration to the realities of cooperatives.

Cooperative Forum

The forum will provide a unique opportunity to meet with forward-looking and passionate people deeply committed to the Quebec cooperative and mutualist movement. The event will enable the participants to hold meaningful discussions on a variety of subjects directly associated with the cooperative and mutualist movement.

Proxfin Annual general meeting

Some 30 community finance institutions will attend this annual meeting organized by Développement international Desjardins. As a group, Proxfin member financial institutions reach more than seven million families and business owners throughout the world. In fostering communications between these institutions, Proxfin intends to help microfinance move forward so that access to financial services becomes a reality for everyone.

Discussion forum on cooperatives and communications

The Summit will host the first international forum on communications issues in the cooperative movement. Held in conjunction with the Summit, this forum, organized by the Chaire de relations publiques et communication marketing de l'Université du Québec à Montréal, will bring together communications researchers and professionals working in the cooperative field.

FCNQ Board of Directors' meeting

At the same time, the fourteen cooperatives in Nunavik will be celebrating FCNQ's 45th Anniversary.

Presentation of the results of a study conducted by the Canadian International Development Agency on the conditions conducive to strengthening the influence of cooperatives in developing countries. This study is based on the work of the Canadian Cooperative Association (CCA), Développement international Desjardins (DID) and the Société de coopération pour le développement international (SOCODEVI). This event is open to all.
