Biography

Holder of a graduate degree from the Institut Technique de Banques (ITB) and a master’s degree in Economics (specialization in business management) from the University of Ouagadougou, Daouda Sawadogo has been working for the Réseau des caisses populaires du Burkina (RCPB) for some 20 years. As Regional Director (1990–2001), he contributed to the development and expansion of the network’s largest regional union. In January 2002, he became CEO of the Fédération des Caisses Populaires du Burkina (FCPB).

Since June 2004, he has been the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Africa chapter of the International Network of Alternative Financial Institutions (INAFI). He is also the Vice-Chair of the INAFI International Board of Directors and he sits on the Board of Directors of the Confédération des Institutions Financières (CIF) for West Africa.

In 2006, Mr. Sawadogo was made a Knight of the National Order of Burkina Faso and was named an Outstanding Partner by Développement International Desjardins (DID).

About the Réseau des Caisses Populaires du Burkina (RCPB)

Since its foundation in 1972, the Réseau des Caisses Populaires du Burkina (RCPB) has continued to develop and expand. The RCPB is an important presence in Burkina Faso’s microfinance sector and holds the distinction of being the country’s oldest and most well-established institution. It is active in 43 of Burkina Faso’s 45 provinces.

The RCPB is one of the founding members of Proxfin, an international network for dialogue and study that has a membership of 25 community finance institutions and Développement international Desjardins.
